Folk paintings from Orissa ‘Patachitra‘ exhibit the use of strong line and brilliant colors.These are religious paintings which covers themes from Indian mythology. To give the surface a leather like texture mixture of chalk and tamarind seed paste is coated. Patachitra are painted on silk fabric with organic natural dyes in a regular series like Dashavtar and Leela‘s of Lord Krishna and Rama. Made by traditional temple artists living in a village near Puri in Orissa in India. Frame it, hang it on wall to achieve country style home decor in 12“ X 24“ in size.
